Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs is Management Today's annual ranking of the UK's biggest and best wealth-creators.

Compiled by Philip Beresford, the man behind the Sunday Times Rich List (and a former MT editor), our list celebrates the visionary leaders who have beaten the odds to build world-class companies, creating jobs and wealth for Britain in the process.

The list uses a unique methodology. The entrepreneurs are ranked according to three criteria: their asset wealth, their company's percentage turnover growth in the last five years, and its percentage jobs growth during the same period. This helps us to identify those who are really driving this engine room of the UK economy.

Despite the economic turmoil, in the last five years the collective turnover of these 100 companies has jumped 122% to £25bn, while their total headcount has risen by 53% to 138,000. The recession has inevitably forced some to make cutbacks. But their impressive contribution to UK plc is clear for all to see.
